₹1,763 crore projects get nod in Haryana

Haryana approves projects valued at ₹1,763 crore

The Haryana government has approved several important purchases for different departments, including new buses for the police and equipment to improve the power supply. The approvals were made during a meeting of the high-powered purchase committee (HPPC) on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and attended by senior ministers and officials.

New buses for police and power supply upgrades

One of the key decisions was to buy 29 new 52-seater buses and six mini-buses for the state police. This purchase, costing around ₹12 crore, aims to improve transportation for police personnel across Haryana.

The committee also approved significant investments to improve electricity services in the state. The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam received approval to purchase various items, including 20 KVA distribution transformers. This power supply upgrade will cost about ₹234 crore. The chief minister instructed that all electrical cables must be tested in recognised laboratories to ensure safety and quality.

In total, the HPPC approved purchases worth over ₹1,763 crore for various departments. Negotiations with suppliers during the meeting helped the government save more than ₹10 crore.

Focus on education, welfare, and digital services

The meeting also focused on improving public welfare and education services. One important decision was to approve the purchase of sanitary napkins, which are distributed free of cost to girl students from Class 6 to 12 in government schools. This step is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and support girls’ education.

In addition, the committee agreed to upgrade equipment and expand digital services in the state. This includes modernising systems to strengthen e-governance, making it easier for citizens to access government services online.

Officials said these decisions are aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting public services, and making governance more efficient. By investing in transport, power supply, education, and digital systems, the state government hopes to deliver better services to the people of Haryana.
